Fairfield firefighters have contained a kitchen fire at 130 Fairchild Ave. in Fairfield, thanks, in part to the apartment's sprinkler system. Fairfield Engine 2 arrived first and reported heavy smoke on the second floor of the 54-unit apartment building and a smoke condition on the third floor.
