New conservation director hired to succeed Steinke

The former conservation superintendent in Stratford has been hired as Fairfield conservation director, a job left vacant when the town's only conservation director -- Thomas Steinke -- retired last year after more than four decades. Brian Carey , who started on the job Friday, started Stratford's first Brownfield program, which has received more than $4 million in federal and state funding since its inception in 2011, according to the announcement of his appointment.
