House Sitter Charged With Clearing Out $30K In Items From Fairfield Home

A house sitter was arrested on warrant on charges of stealing about $30,000 in clothing and jewelry while the residents were away on vacation, Fairfield police said. Kenneth Mathews, 29 of Ellsworth St., Bridgeport, has been charged with first-degree larceny and first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny in connection with a theft that occurred between Aug. 11 and 22, while he was watching the home on Cobblers Hill Road, police said.
