Republican Tony Hwang of Fairfield was the victor in the hard-fought battle against Kim Fawcett to replace longtime state Sen. John McKinney in District 28. "This shows people want an honest campaign ... a campaign focused on the issues," Hwang said to a crowd of supporters at Flipside Burgers and Bar on Post Road in Fairfield. Hwang took both Easton and Weston before the election victory was called by the Republican Town Committee, which did not announce the winner in Newtown and Fairfield.
