Steam Leak Briefly Evacuates Fairfield Warde High School

Fairfield firefighters responded to the scene after receiving a water flow alarm indicating an activated sprinkler system at the school at 11:55 a.m. Fairfield Fire Companies 2 and 3 were dispatched, with Ladder 2 arriving first on the scene reporting that the building had been evacuated and the alarm was sounding. Upon further investigation a leaking steam pipe was found in a tunnel under the building and the school was allowed to reoccupy, with Company 1 and the Fire Department Safety Officer called to the scene along with American Medical Response to assist in a confined space entry to identify the leaking pipe.
