The person who stole the wallet of a 70-year-old Fairfield woman at the Panera Bread in Darien racked up thousands of dollars in credit card purchases, according to police. The woman told police that she believes the theft occurred when she was at the Panera on Post Road on Saturday, Nov. 8. She was there from 12:45 to 3 p.m. and used her wallet to pay for food, and put it back into her purse but did not close the purse, police said.
