A 21-year-old Easton man was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 19, after he crashed his 2001 Toyota sedan into an AT&T pole on Congress Street in Fairfield before fleeing the scene by running across a golf course, police said. At 9:21 p.m. Tuesday, Nicholas Smith ran his car into a telephone pole near a sharp turn, breaking the pole clean in half and leaving just the wires to support the upper half of the pole, police said.
