Through Beethoven, Westporter Lazar offers promise of spring

Many New Englanders will probably agree that their least favorite time of year is that seemingly endless, emotionally brutal stretch of winter from Super Bowl Sunday to the second Sunday of March -- on which Daylight Saving Time returns. The question with which we must annually contend is thus: How do we fill our weekends with warmth and hope when outdoors is usually so cold and bleak? On Sundays, Feb. 8 and 15, pianist Lazar will present two free afternoon concerts at the Pequot Library in Fairfield's Southport section.
