A massive two-alarm fire raged at the old Fairfield lumber site Tuesday evening sending a plume of smoke visible for miles. Firefighters were called to 185 Thorpe Street after a passerby reported light smoke showing from the now abandoned factory just after 7 p.m., according to Fairfield Fire Department Spokesman Christopher Tracy.
