The Fairfield Fire Department rescued a stranded boater whose boat had struck a reef and was unable to be operated in Long Island Sound on Saturday night. The department's recent acquisition of a fire boat from the Bridgeport Fire Department proved to be extremely valuable in the rescue operation.
