A male pedestrian at the downtown Fairfield train station was struck and killed by a Boston-bound Amtrak train around 6:20 p.m. Saturday. Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara said the man may have been trying to climb back up on the platform from the tracks when he was struck by the train.
