Two real human skulls turned up on Stamford's garbage transfer station, and detectives there spent much of Halloween trying to figure out whether there was foul play behind the grisly discovery. Although their investigation is continuing, the skulls were from the collection of a recently deceased Fairfield man, Robert Louis DeVitto, who, according to his father, took delight in displaying them in the living room of their home along with an assortment of other off-kilter items.
