A 23-year-old Fairfield man who was charged with carrying an assault weapon on the University of New Haven campus in December 2013 was sentenced Thursday to five years of federal probation. William Dong was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford for transporting an assault weapon into Connecticut in violation of federal law.
