A Fairfield woman who attempted to steal nearly $60 worth of vanilla extract from Stop & Shop on Kings Highway Cutoff told officers she put it in coffee to get drunk, police said. Patricia Nelson, 63, of Jarvis Court, was stopped by loss prevention officials on Saturday, Feb. 28, and detained at the Stop & Shop until police arrived after they noticed she had placed six bottles of the baking ingredient in her purse, police said.
