Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara was released from the hospital Wednesday after being treated overnight for injuries sustained when his squad car was rear-ended Tuesday at a downtown intersection, the Fairfield Citizen reported. MacNamara, 49, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after the three-car accident at Reef Road and Route 1. He thanked the many well-wishers via Twitter.
