The frigid wind off Southport Harbor on the morning of the new year's first day was no match for Shane DiGiovanna's inspiring words before the 15th annual Farcical Aquatic Ceremony at Ye Yacht Yard. Twenty people jumped from a dock into the harbor Thursday morning after Shane, a former Fairfield resident who suffers from a rare and painful skin disease, spoke via loudspeaker to the crowd and thanked them for raising money for research into epidermolysis bullosa.
